DJ Ras of Sika Radio

Dj Ras has been working for the station since its inception about 3 years ago. For most of his former classmates that know him by his high school nickname “Obarty”, it comes as no surprise that this former School prefect of Kumasi High School turned presenter continues to make moves in the Radio industry.

He started djing events and had stints with RADIO CONTACTO, CONTINENTAL RADIO and RADIO LINK all on the campuses of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and technology and Kumasi Polytechnic in the Garden City respectively while in Secondary school. These on the job training were in addition to understudying popular presenters like JOE AMEE then of OTEC FM and Big Shaq now of FOX FM, and Shaq ‘B’ now of ZURIA FM among others.

After his secondary school, he relocated to the United States in 2001where he trained and worked for Virginia State University’s campus radio station WVST 91.3 while pursuing both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Within the same period, he was the host of a community affairs program on AM 820, a local Gospel station in Richmond, Virginia and also doubled as the board operator for their sister station WZEZ 100.5 FM for almost 4 years.

DJ Ras currently hosts Highlife Time every Thursday Night between 8-11 pm ET Sikaradio Top 15 Countdown Saturday 12-2 ET and the syndicated Sunday Afternoon Special 3-6p ET. He also provides musical services for all occasions on the east coast through his Jah Kingdom Entertainment Group.

The sky is the limit for DJ Ras, he  envision to keep both the dancing floor and airwaves more lively  and also plans to set up a broadcasting school to train up and coming radio presenters and providing refresher courses for those already in the business. He owes his successes chalked so far to God, family and his fans. For now he encourages us all to keep listening to Sikaradio, for the best in Music and more.
