Cindy Thompson promises “spirit filled” Adom Praiz 2011

The build-up to Adom Praiz 2011 is getting exciting. With barely one week to the D-day, local artistes billed to share the stage with American gospel icon, Ron Kenoly, have been pouring into the Adom FM studios to promote the highly-anticipated third season of Adom Praiz, the all-night long fiesta of songs of praise and adoration.

The latest to “invade” the Adom FM studious was Cindy Thompson, the all-conquering gospel singer who took the industry by storm in 2000 and swept several awards at the Ghana Music Awards with the hit tune Awurade Kasa, which captured the number one position on the Ghanaian music charts for months.

Cindy seems to have taken a sabbatical, but the passion she demonstrated in the Adom FM studios Friday morning suggests patrons who will be at The Dome on Saturday, August 27 for Adom Praiz 2011 will have a lot to look forward to.

“God’s Grace and blessings will overflow for everyone who will be at the Dome. If your expectations have not been met from January till now, I promise you that if you step out in faith and make it there, God will not disappoint you.”

Sounding more like a pastor than a singer, Cindy said “For myself and my colleagues who will be performing alongside Ron Kenoly, our prayer is that nobody who comes to the Dome will leave the same; we will use our songs as a divine carpet for God to descend and move mightily among his people. It is in praise and worship that God exalts himself so I urge people not to come only for the artistes but to come expecting that God will bless them and deliver them from their troubles.

“Through praise, God is going to elevate his people and rescue them from bondage so I urge everyone to be there. If you miss it, you would have missed out on a wonderful experience,” she said.

Cindy Thompson assured that even though she has not been very active, she is still in form and her voice is stronger than ever so patrons should not expect anything less than a great ministration from her.

Other leading local artistes who will feature on the August 27 bill have already “passed through” the Adom FM studios to promote the concert. They include Tagoe Sisters, Cecilia Marfo, Stella Seal, Mary Ghansah and Philipa Baafi.

The same day, harmonious trio, Daughters of Glorious Jesus made up of Cynthia Appiadu (lead singer), Edna Sarpong, and Monica Owusu Ansah, will be featured on Adom FM’s mid-morning programme, Work and Happiness while gospel ‘jama’ group, Soul Winners will also be guests on the Drive programme, Ofie Kwanso.
