Can We All Just Get Along!

Godonu Kofi Srigboh Godonu kple Egbeviwo?s changing style of High Life is bringing high life music to a new dimension fused into the Ewe traditional soogoo drumming.

 

Godonu Kofi Srigboh grew up in a family of mostly boys. They all played a variety of instruments. Under the guidance of his musically talented father, Godonu took " Blekete" drums, made for the family by the father. Godonu was born in Aflao in the Volta Region of Ghana, West Africa. He spent part of his childhood in Lome, Togo, where he was educated in the French system.

 

He later returned to Ghana, where he continued his education in English at the Accra Polytechnic majoring in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. During this time he played an active role as a lead drummer in the cultural activities of the Ewe Association of Lagos Town, a suburb of Accra.

Godonu is a composer, singer and producer. He writes lyrics in his mother tongue Ewe, a language spoken in the Volta Region of Ghana, the southern part of Togo and the Republic of Benin. Godonu translates some of his lyrics into English, French, Spanish, Ga and Twi.

He had his debut CD "EMEFA" meaning ALL IS CALM out in 1999. Godonu's music is a blend of the varied rhythms of Ewe traditional drumming such as Agbadza, Akpalu, Akpese, Bɔbɔbɔ, Gahu, Kantata, Kinka to name a few and he calls it the SOOGOO music.

The new album ?Can We All Just Get Along!? which was Recorded in NuHope Studio and now Mastering  in Psychospace Sound all in Toronto, Canada will be release soon. This album has ten songs, some of which are MAWU KOE NYA (Only God Knows), MELɔ  W? (I love you) translated into six languages which lovers shouldn?t miss to have, AGBESINYALE (In life anything is possible) a cool jamming number, An Upbeat Agbadza LɔLɔ  KPLE ŋUTIFAFA (Where there is love, there is Peace),  A Heart touching song on AIDS, MEDLEY:Miele dza dom na mi, Đokui bɔbɔ and Xexeme agamagbalee w?nye), Vɔ  AMEGBETɔ (Fear human being), EKUGBLENU (Death the destroyer ), AGBESINYALE (Instrumental ) all with Bɔbɔbɔ and Soukous flavour.
