Abundant Blessings At 'Todah Praise'

It was a night of marathon of gospel songs at the praise and worship festival organized by CitiFM dubbed 'Today Praise' held at the premises of the Ghana wing of the Winners Chapel in Accra last Saturday.

The event was well attended as more than half of the auditorium was filled with choirs from various invited Churches as well as people from walks of life.

The atmosphere was charged with a large section of the crowd dancing as choir after choirs took turns to inspire and entertain them with both local and foreign songs backed by a live band.

The crowd were mostly on their feet to dance to praise songs such as 'Medze be mawo' and other gospel songs done in the highlife vein.

Performances were done by choirs from Royal House Church, Assemblies of God, Covenant Family Community, Winners Ghana Victory Bible, Action Chapel, Harvest Chapel, Living Streams and the Pentecost Youth.

Also present at the programme were gospel musicians Noble Nketia, Nii Okai and Rev. Albert Asante who gave live performances backed by a team of selected singers from the various choirs present.

MCs Bernard Avle and Mark Diamond of Citi FM excited the crowd with exhortations and jokes. They compelled the crowd to willingly give donations and offerings as ushers passed baskets around in the auditorium as part of a fund raising activity.

According to Nii Amah Dagadu, Programmes Manager, the event is an extension of a similar one held in May Day dubbed 'Family Consecration'. It was meant to raise funds for a project known as "100 Must Go To School" in aid of needy children who, due to financial constraints, are unable to further their education. He further said that the considered gospel events in churches as the best medium of serving this social responsibility because they wanted to bring together all churches to help pursue a common charitable cause in aid of the society.

He said proceeds realized from 'Todah Praise' would be used to support the project an that the event would be an annual thing. "Since this is the first of its kind, only nine churches were invited but we will extend our invitation to more churches in the next events", he said.

In an interview with Noble Nketia and Rev. Albert Asante, the musicians said they were considered the event as a grand opportunity to touch people's live with God's message and support the welfare of the needy at the same time.
