IAAF Continental Cup: Three Ghanaian athletes qualify to represent Africa at IAAF Continental Cup

Three Ghanaian athletes have qualified to represent Africa at the upcoming IAAF Continental Cup in Marrakech, Morocco on September 13 and 14.

The athletes were selected following their stellar performances at the just ended 19th African Athletics Championships in Morocco, where Team Ghana won its biggest medal haul since 2006.

The country’s young athletics contingent won a total of six medals, consisting of four silver and two bronze medals, which was higher than the five medals Team Ghana won at the last edition of the Championships in Benin.

Mary Zutah Narteh, Nadia Eke, and Robert Martey have been selected for the second edition of the continental show piece.

Debutants Nadia Eke broke new grounds after setting a new national outdoor record in the triple jump and a personal best of 13.40m as she won silver in Marrakech.

Mary Zutah Narteh erased memories of her 4th place finish at the last African Championships, throwing a personal best of 52.57m (PB) to win silver in the javelin throw.

While long jumper Robert Martey is set to continue his stellar season after making the cut for the continental show piece despite coming fourth in the long jump event.

Ghanaian athletes selected to represent Africa:
Mary Zutah Narteh (Javelin), Nadia Eke (Triple Jump) and Robert Martey (Long Jump).
