Oguaa Hall wins UCC athletics competition

Cape Coast, Nov.9, GNA- One record was broken in the 36th inter-halls athletics competition at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) held at the Adisadel school park on Saturday.

Miss Fati Larley , of Valco Hall, run the 3,000 metres race in a time of 12 minute 1 second to break the record set by Ms Patricia Bretuo of Oguaa Hall in 14 minutes 35 seconds, the previous year.

Oguaa hall, took the first position with 88 points, New Hall, second with 69 and half points, Atlantic Hall, third with 68 points, Valco Hall, fourth with 61 and half points and Casely Hayford Hall, fifth with 23 points.

In the Women's division, Atlantic Hall, came first with 95 points, Valco Hall, second with 86 points, New and Oguaa Halls, tied for the third position with 28 points each, while Adehye Hall came fifth with 24 points.

Charles Ahmoah of New Hall, was declared the best athlete for coming first in the discuss and shot put, while Miss Fati Larley of Atlantic Hall was declared the best female athlete for winning the 100 and 200 metre races, discuss and javelin.

In his closing remarks Professor Kobena Yankson, Pro- Vice Chancellor of the UCC, commended the athletes for their sportsmanship and asked them to train harder to enable them win laurels for the university, during the forthcoming West African and GUNSA Games to be held at Ouagadougou and Cape Coast respectively.
Certificates were presented to deserving athletes.
