Malaysia invites two Ghanaian marathon runners

Accra, March 9, GNA - The Malaysian Athletics Federation has extended invitation to two Ghanaian marathon runners - Godwin Adukpo and Millicent Boadi to participate in the 16th AmBank Kual Lumpur International Marathon.

The invitation of the two marathoners was based on the performance of the two Ghanaians who have been consistent participants in the Annual National Milo Marathon sponsored by Nestle Ghana Limited. Information gathered by the GNA Sports from the Public Relations Unit of the National Sports Council (NSC) said that the event which is scheduled from March 16 to 20, 2007 is under the full sponsorship of the Malaysian Athletics Federation.

The duo are expected to leave Ghana next week for the programme. Adukpo won the 19th edition of the annual National Milo Marathon with a time of 2. 29.29 seconds, in 2005.

The 20 year old former student of Anlo Secondary School in the Volta Region shrugged off challenge from ace marathoner David Zigah. He then participated in the 2006 Amsterdam Marathon but could not make any significant impact in the event.

Millicent Boadi, a 23 year officer of the Customs, Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) has also been a dominant figure in the male version of the marathon as well as a participant in the Amsterdam Marathon.

She has been a consistent performer of the female category of the Milo marathon.
