Jamra Circuit place first in Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa athletics competition

Breman Jamra, (C/R) June 26, GNA - Jamra Circuit emerged the over all winners of the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District Inter- Circuit Basic Schools Athletics competition when they bagged 200 points. The two-day event, which place at Breman Jamra saw Breman Asikuma Circuit "B" taking the second position with 196 points with Breman Asikuma Circuit "A" who obtained 158 points placed third, while Odoben Circuit had 122 points to pick the fourth position. Breman Brakwa Circuit placed 5th with 113 points while Anhwiam and Kuntanise Circuits placed at the 6th and 7th positions with 50 and 49 points respectively.

The competition was organized to select a team to represent the District at the forth-coming Inter-Districts Basic School Athletics competition to be held in July at Cape Coast.

The athletes participated in both track and field events as they competed in the 100 meters race, relay events, long distance races and high jump for both girls and boys.

The First, Second and Third Circuits were presented with trophies as their awards with the other participants given certificates. Mr. Emmanuel Adjei Domson, District Chief Executive, in his closing remarks on Wednesday advised the athletes to train harder to win more laurels for the District.

He urged them to combine their academic work with the sporting activities, adding that they should make discipline and respective their cardinal objects. Mr. Fred Asamoah, District Sports co-ordinator advised the athletes who have been selected to represent the District to adhere to instructions of their sport and physical education officers and work hard to ensure victory for the area.
