Aziz Zakari wins in Dakar

Dakar - Aziz Zakari recorded a fine win at the African Permit International Athletics meeting held here on Sunday.

The sprinter took first place with 10.02 (1232 points, +2.6m/s) and held on to his 6th place in the Men?s 100m Event Ranking. Zakari is the highest ranked African sprinter in the Event Ranking, but Nigeria?s Adetonunbo Olusoji Fasuba is on the rise, as the 20-year-old finished second with 10.08 (1206 points, +2.6m/s) and improved 2 places to 10th in the 100m Ranking.

An enthusiastic crowd of 50 000 spectators attended the meeting at the Leopold Senghor Stadium and their Senegalese favourite, Amy Backe Thiam, former world 400m champion did not disappoint them by winning in a fast 52.52 sec.
South African Jacques Freitag won the high jump with a solid 2.28m.
Local star, Ndiss Badji of Senegal made full use of the wind to win the long jump with a massive 8.30m jump.
