Association presents award to Simpson

Accra, Aug. 17, GNA - The Women in Sport Association of Ghana (WOSPAG) on Monday presented an award to Heptathlete Margaret Simpson for her role in sports development.

The award; Outstanding Female Sports Personnel, was presented to the 2005 World Athletics Championship Bronze medallist during the Ghana Women's Awards for her outstanding achievement in sports. Dr Deborah Cubagee, Chairman of WOSPAG urged Simpson to maintain her focus to attain more laurels for the nation. She added that the heptathlete serves as a role model to the youth and advised her to encourage more women to venture into sports. Dr Cubagee assured Simpson of the Association's support in her quest to reach the apogee of the sport. Simpson commended the organizers of the awards for acknowledging her contribution to Ghana sports.
