Accra International Marathon takes off Sept. 28

Accra, Sept 26, GNA - This year's Accra International Marathon is scheduled to come off on Sunday, September 28 with over 200 runners said to have so far registered to participate in the event. The event, which will begin from the Ghanaman Soccer Centre Excellence in Prampram through the Tema port city and end at the La Pleasure Beach, Accra has participants from Ghana and others from Ethiopia, the United States of America, Cote D'Ivoire and Togo. Madam Esi E. Ansah, Chairperson of the Longevity Project' Board of Directors, organizers of the event in a release copied to GNA Sports attractive prizes of cash and electronic gadgets would at stake for the winners and participants.

She said participants from outside the country have started arriving for the event that aims at increasing health awareness and increasing life expectancy especially among Ghanaians. The marathon race is expected to commence at 5:30 am from the starting point in Prampram, through Tema township before terminating at the La Pleasure Beach after two hours where the first marathon runners will be received at the finishing line. This year's is the second of the annual event.
