200 register for Accra International Marathon

Accra, Sept 26, GNA - More than 200 runners have registered for this year's Accra International Marathon scheduled to come off on Sunday, September 28. The participants are from the United States; Ethiopia; Cote d'Ivoire; Togo and Ghana.

The Marathon would start at 0530 hours from Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, pass through the Tema Township and end at the La Pleasure Beach, Accra. The first runners are expected to arrive at the finishing line after two hours.

Madam Esi E. Ansah, Chairperson of the Longevity Project Board of Directors, organizers of the event, in a release copied to GNA Sports, said attractive cash prizes and electronic gadgets would be at stake. She said participants from outside the country have started arriving for the event that aimed at increasing health awareness and life expectancy, especially among Ghanaians. This year's is the second of the annual event.
