The Lagos State Government on Wednesday arraigned a security guard, Saviour Udoh, before the state’s Special Offences Court in Ikeja for allegedly defiling a five-year-old girl.

Udoh was arraigned on one count of sexual assault, which he pleaded not guilty to.

It was gathered that Udoh had on December 12, 2018, at a parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God at No. 19 Oshifila Street in the Anifowose area of Ikeja, allegedly assaulted the victim.

The prosecutor, Gbenga Alagbe, told the court that Udoh assaulted the victim while she was sleeping at the children department of the church.

Alagbe stated that the victim reported the defendant to her mother, which led to his arrest, adding that the offence contravened Section 259 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Following the plea of the defendant, the presiding judge, Justice Sybil Nwaka, ordered that he should be remanded in a correctional facility.

She adjourned the case till March 24 for trial.
