UK pledges initial £1m in aid as King sends condolences for Libya's devastating floods

In response to the devastating floods in Libya, the UK government has unveiled a commitment of up to £1 million in aid for the beleaguered nation.

Simultaneously, King Charles and Queen have expressed their profound sadness over the tragic events.

King Charles conveyed his condolences in a message to the head of Libya's Presidential Council, Dr. Mohamed Menfi, on the evening of the announcement.

The King's heartfelt words were as follows: "We mourn with all those who have lost their loved ones, and continue to pray for everyone whose lives and livelihoods have been affected by the horrific floods. I admire greatly all those who are engaged tirelessly in the rescue efforts in such dire conditions, and praise their selfless bravery."

The Foreign Office has detailed its collaborative efforts with on-ground organizations to address the most pressing needs of the affected population, including critical issues such as shelter, healthcare, and sanitation.
