A water shortage has hit parts of Kawempe division in Kampala and Nabweru division in Wakiso district.

Some of the residents talked to said they have now resorted to buying water from water truck operators to fill their tanks, while others are now buying in jerry cans.

“Our taps have been dry since the weekend . We are now buying a jerry can of water at sh1000,” noted Herbert Muwanika, a resident of Lugoba, Wakiso district.

National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has since apologised to its clients over the shortage, saying this has been caused by works going on at Mulago roundabout.

“Apologies to our customers in Lugoba, Nabweru, Kawempe-Mbogo, Kawempe-Kyandondo, Ttula-Avis and surrounding areas experiencing no water situations. This is due to ongoing pipe relocation works at Mulago roundabout,” NWSC tweeted today (Wednesday).
