Sierra Leone man dies after Man United missed goal chance against Aston Villa

A Sierra Leonean man slumped and died during an English Premier League match between his club Manchester United and Aston Villa over the weekend.

The BBC journalist in the country said police commander in the eastern Kono district confirmed to him that the fan collapsed and died on the spot at a time Manchester United was drawing with Villa.

"The police commander in Kono, eastern #SierraLeone has confirmed to me that a #ManUnited fan collapsed & died on the spot after his team had missed an earlier chance to equalize against #AstonVilla on Sunday, in a game they eventually won 3-1.

"Supt Franklin Bawoh said Tommy Smith, aged between 50 and 60, was a hypertensive. He was watching in a local cinema in Koidu," Fofana posted on Twitter.

It is reported that he slumped after the 24th-minute mark when the Reds were down by a Bertrand Traore goal at Villa Park. United ended the first half a goal down.
