Nigeria’s Ikorodu Bois, Emmanuella, other African stars nominated for Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards

The Ikorodu Bois and comedienne Emmanuella have won the hearts of many people across the continent. These Nigerian sensations have been nominated for the 2021 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards appearing in the African social media star category.

The other African nominees in the category are Bonang (South Africa), Ghetto kids (Uganda), Elsa Majimbo (Kenya), and Wain Van Den Berg (South Africa).

The Ikorodu Bois made up of three brothers — Babatunde Sanni, 23; Muiz Sanni,16; Malik Sanni, 10, and their cousin, Fawas Aina, 13, brought to life several trailers including that of Netflix’s Money Heist, Extraction and Bad Boys II, receiving a shout out from Will Smith.

They became popular for imitating multi-million-dollar music videos, Hollywood film trailers, and sometimes photos.

The boys have received accolades from Extraction star Chris Hemsworth and even earned an invitation to the premiere of Extraction Two amid nods from producers Russo brothers.

The giant streaming platform, Netflix, could not help but give these boys some gadgets such as boom microphones, high-tech cameras, and an Apple iMac computer to aid in their filming and editing ventures.

Emmanuella Samuel, Nigeria’s biggest child YouTuber, has been warming the hearts of her viewers with her witty jokes and catchphrases. She has toured the world, bringing laughter and light to many. She works with Mark Angel, Nigeria’s highest YouTube earner, starring in his comedy series.

The 10-year-old recently built a house for her parents. She took to her official Instagram account to announce to her 471,000 followers that she built her mother a house. “I built this for you mom.”

According to BBC, there is also the Favorite African Act category with the following nominees: South African national rugby team captain Siya Kolisi, Zozibini Tunzi, and Emmy-nominated South African actress Thuso Mbedu. Others are Ugandan singer Sheebah and football stars Mo Salah from Egypt and Sadio Mane from Senegal.

The Virtual Kids’ Choice Awards will air on Monday, March 15. Actor, comedian, and Saturday Night Live legend Kenan Thompson will host the show.

Voting is done by viewers of Nickelodeon worldwide and the nominee with the highest vote is declared the winner.
