Nigeria: Doctor arrested for failing to provide patient's placenta

A medical doctor in the Surulere area of Lagos State has been arrested by the police for failure to provide the placenta of a patient who recently put to bed.

The mysterious disappearance of the placenta at the Olaniba Memorial Hospital, Aguda area of Lagos, as well as fears that it could be sold for rituals, triggered the patient's husband, identified as Mr. Ekong, to involve the police.

According to PMExpress, the Aguda Division's police led by the DPO, SP Elizabeth Opadola, arrested the hospital's Medical Director, Dr. Mrs. Adenike Olaniba.

Dr. Olaniba has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti, Yaba-Lagos, for further investigation.

She was arrested alongside and the surgeon who carried out the operation on the woman at the hospital located at Olatunde Onimole Street, Aguda.
