In a tragic turn of events, Hamisu Danjibga, a seasoned radio journalist from Nigeria, has been discovered deceased in the north-western state of Zamfara. His body was found three days after he was reported missing, BBC.com reports.

Hamisu Danjibga had a distinguished career with the Voice of Nigeria (VON), where he dedicated many years to reporting extensively on the prevailing security challenges in Zamfara state.

The journalist's disappearance was first reported on Monday, and regrettably, his lifeless body was later located in a pit behind his residence.

In a statement, VON referred to the incident as a case of kidnapping by "terrorists" and labeled his death as murder.

Numerous press organizations, including the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), have vehemently condemned the alleged killing of Hamisu Danjibga.

Zamfara state Governor Dauda Lawal has taken swift action, instructing security agencies to initiate an investigation into this distressing incident.
