Tema Youth Banned

Ghana's Tema Youth have been ejected from the African Confederation Cup after failing to show up for a second round match in Cameroon earlier this month, the Confederation of Africa Football said on Tuesday.

The club have also been banned from competing in African club competitions for the next three years after missing their first leg tie against Astres Douala of Cameroon in Yaounde on March 4.

Tema Youth failed to give an explanation for their absence but it is believed that financial constraints led them to miss the tie, officials said.

Astres Douala now progress to the third round of the competition, where they will meet the winner of a second round contest between Benfica Luanda of Angola and Daring Club Motema Pembe from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
