The first lady of Lesotho has turned herself in for questioning by the police over the killing in 2017 of the prime minister's previous wife.

An arrest warrant was issued for Maesaiah Thabane after she went missing last month.

Prime Minister Thomas Thabane, who says he will resign, has also been questioned by the police about the killing.

His estranged wife, Lipolelo Thabane, was shot dead outside her home in the capital, Maseru, two days before her husband's inauguration.

The couple were involved in bitter divorce proceedings at the time.
