Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi on Sunday directed the government to pay more attention to the electric vehicle industry.

The president tasked that government with establishing a regional centre for manufacturing and exporting electric cars through cooperation with global automakers.

El-Sisi's directives came during a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and the ministers of electricity, military production, finance, the public enterprise sector, transport, and trade and industry, his spokesman Bassam Rady said.
