Kenya's First Lady Margaret Kenyatta has commended healthcare workers for their effort during the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

Mrs Kenyatta singled out community health workers who are educating the public on preventive measures.

"I applaud your selfless commitment to your work and your courage and compassion for people and for the community. I acknowledge the sacrifice you give of your time towards the demanding role of being community health workers," she said in a statement.

Kenya has seen rising coronavirus cases, with healthcare workers among those infected. The health ministry said eight healthcare workers have succumbed to the virus and 600 others had tested positive.

The number of Coronavirus cases in the country stands at 23,202.
