Patrice Motsepe, president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), arrived in Cairo on Thursday, to hold a series of meetings with sports officials in Egypt, Ghanasoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The South African billionaire arrived at the headquarters of the continent's football governing for the first time since taking charge after being elected unopposed in Rabat, a few weeks ago.

The President of CAF was accompanied by the General Secretary of CAF Veron Mosengo-Omba, officials of the Egyptian football federation when they met the Minister of Youth and Sports of Egypt, Ashraf Sobhi.

FIFA Council member of Egypt Hany Abou Rida also attended the meeting as one of the most experienced football officials from the North African country as well as CAF.

The meeting was meant to introduce Motsepe to the Egyptian government that hosts CAF as an international organisation as it is the first time since the South African is visiting the country since his electoral victory.

Ashraf Sobhi presented a plaque to the new CAF President and assured him of Egypt's unflinching support to ensure that Africa's football rises up to its challenges to be successful.

The president of CAF visited the body's headquarters in Cairo to familiarise himself with the operations of the football governing body as he starts his duties in Egypt.

The CAF leader also met with Ahmed Mujahid, head of the Normalisation that manages the Egyptian Football Association, on the sidelines of his working visit to Egypt.

During those two sessions, the president of CAF discussed the crises facing the Egyptian Football Association and the position of the Normalisation Committee regarding the continuation of its tenure in office.

The session also witnessed talks about strengthening Egypt during the African championships that Egypt will host during the coming period, after the success of the U23 and Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.

Motsepe's arrival comes in the wake of of his keenness to visit the federations on the continent of Africa after assuming the position of president of the Confederation of African Football.

The South African has stated his desire to visit federations to directly witness and hear their concerns, raise the efficiency of the football system, develop the game, and support federations to be more efficient.

Motsepe already held a meeting with the staff members of CAF following his electoral victory last month to state his vision for the administration of the game and his vision of improving the system.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) elections, which were held in Morocco last month, saw Motsepe win the post of president of the Confederation of African Football after the withdrawal of all his rivals before the election.
