2022 World Cup: Liberian president attends son's second game as US draws with England

Liberian President George Weah was in attendance, Friday night, November 25, when the United States took on England in the second round of Group B games.

Weah's interest in the game is principally because of Timothy, his 22-year-old son, who plays for the US. The game ended in a goalless draw.

The president, a one-time Ballon d'Or winner, was spotted in the VIP lounge clapping as his son was subbed during the World Cup fixture at the Al-Bayt Stadium in Doha.

Timothy scored the America's only goal at the tournament so far with his strike against Wales in the first match.

That lead was subsequently canceled in the latter stages of the game by a Gareth Bale strike.

The US will play Iran in the last game and must by all means win to stand a chance of qualifying out of the group.

Weah said he was a proud dad after meeting with Timothy over dinner after the Wales game.

Born & raised in New York, Tim chose to play for his country USA rather than for Liberia or Jamaica where his parents hail from. Tim has a promising future in "football," likewise Christian Pulisic who set the goal for him.
