Black Stars To Camp In Wursburg

Ghana?s Black Stars will camp in the city of Wursburg, Germany ahead of the FIFA World Cup competition which kick starts on the tenth of June. The decision to camp in Wursburg is upon an arrangement by the main kit sponsors of the Black Stars PUMA, whose headquarters is a few kilometers away from the city.

The Black Stars will camp there starting May 15th, 2006 ahead of the World soccer fiesta.

The team will train in the "Kickers" Stadium where the Wuerzburger Kickers, a German second division side, used to play thirty years ago.

The main team today is Wuerzburger FV (forth highest league)... however, the stadium is supposed to be very nice.

Dr. Stefan Oschmann, who is facilitating the camping arrangements, was in Accra two days ago to finalise arrangements with the General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association, Kofi Nsiah.

As part of the final arrangements, he also presented a flag of the city and some documents containing the details of the city to the FA scribe.

Speaking to CITI FM, Dr. Oschmann emphasized that the entire inhabitants of Wursburg are ready with open arms to welcome the Black Stars, insisting that plans have been made for the Stars to be given the best of treatment so as to keep them comfortable ahead of their maiden World Cup appearance.

The team will be housed at the MARITIME HOTEL in Wursburg, which is near the sea.
