Seasoned Ghanaian football coach, Joseph E. Sarpong has revealed the reason behind sacking Ex-Ghana international Emmanuel Armah from Hearts of Oak training grounds about 30 years ago.

The former Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko coach narrated how the incident happened in an interview with Skyy Power FM.

Emmanuel Armah popularly known as Armah Senegal was one of the biggest stars on the local scene, having featured for the Black Stars but this apparently had adverse influence the player’s behaviour at the club level prompting coach JE Sarpong to take a stern approach.

“I have handled big stars. I sacked Armah Senegal from Hearts of Oak training grounds because of bad behaviour.”

“We won our next match without him. He later came to apologize and beg to return to the team.

“We later hugged in training and the issue was resolved amicably”, He told Skyy power.

The former Hearts defender was nicknamed ‘Senegal’ due to his exploit at the 1992 African Nations cup finals.

He won three Ghana premier league titles, three FA cups with the rainbow club. He was part of Ghana’s squad that came second in the 1992 African Cup of Nations.
