Berekum Arsenal has qualified to participate in the Confedration Cup

BACKGROUND

Berekum Arsenal Football Club was formed in 1995 as an amateur team at a suburb in Berekum called ?Amangoase?. The youth in the area played for fun. There was no clear organization.

In late 1995, a British tourist who was a fun Arsenal in UK saw the team playing in Berekum and was fascinated by their performance. When he returned to UK he sent jerseys of Arsenal and cash to support the team.

The team which was until then known as ?Amangoase boys? was named after Arsenal in UK.

The Club was officially registered to participate in the Brong Ahafo Regional Division three league in 1996. The Club gained promotion to Division two in 1997 and qualified to take part in the Division one promotional league the same year. Arsenal won the promotional league and became the only team in Brong Ahafo to gain admission to the National Division One league in 1998.

The clubs sterling performance in National Division One league saw her being promoted to the National Premier league in 2000.

Arsenal has since been a force to reckon with in the premiership since her entry in 2001. Find attached league tables.

SUPPORT BASE

Berekum Arsenal has her supporters as one of the greatest assets. The Club has the largest following in the Brong Ahafo Region. The supporters of the club are scattered throughout the country. The commitment and loyalty of the supporters could not be doubted in anyway. The have proved to be the most influential factor in times of difficulty which has helped the team to hold her own against the likes of Kotoko and Hearts.

PLAYING BODY

Currently, the club has about thirty registered players. Some players from the club have at one time or the other featured for the national teams: Osei Kofi and alex Asamoah featured prominently for the national U-20 team last year. Kofi Sammy(Now with Kotoko) was invited to the Black stars camp last year. The skipper of the club, Yaw Serbeh was honoured by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) last year as the most dedicated player of Ghana.

PLAYING GROUND

Berekum Coronation Park, owned by Berekum District Assembly has been the training grounds as well as the match venue for the club since its establishment. The park can take over 25,000 spectators. A large track of land has already been acquired for the future development of the Club stadium, academy and club House.

BUS

The Club has a 44-seatre fully air-conditioned Benz Bus for Homw-and-away matches.

FINANCIAL POSITION

The financial position of the club is not the best. The main source of income has been the gate proceeds. Occasionally, some individuals contribute to the club.

MANAGEMENT

The team can boast of sound, hardworking and dedicated staff. Due diligence has always been exercised in the conduct of the business of the club.
