I dare any player or coach to come out if I’ve influenced him - Palmer

Tema Youth bankroller Wilfred Kwaku Osei Palmer has vowed to honourably quit football if he is found guilty of influencing player selection to the various national teams of Ghana.

The former Black Stars management committee chairman made a wild allegation on Tuesday that favoritism and nepotism have taken centre stage when coaches are selecting players to national teams since top officials of the football association use their positions to influence it.

Although, a section of Ghanaians have mentioned several players including Jeremiah Arkorful, Joseph Attamah Laweh, Moses Odjer and Francis Narh who represented the country in 2013 Fifa U20 World Cup after playing for Tema Youth, Palmer insist none of them didn’t deserve the chance and has thrown a challenge to anyone to prove otherwise.

“If any coach or agent is able to say that I accepted any money or gift to influence a player’s inclusion to the various national team, I will quit doing football business in Ghana. I dare any coach or player to come out today,” Palmer told FOX FM.

“Everyone know the kind of person I am and even when someone at a point approached me to help his player’s inclusion to a national team while I was in charge of the management committee, I blatantly told the person it is not possible because it is against my principles.

“Every player from Tema Youth that got the opportunity to feature for national team deserved it. They got the chance on merit to represent the country and not because I was involved or whatsoever,” he added.

Palmer, who is pursuing a legal tussle at CAS, is still harboring high hopes to become Ghana FA president despite being disqualified to participate in last year’s elections.
