Striker Bernard Tekpetey wants to chart his way back into the Black Stars but admits he must first revive his struggling career at Fortuna Düsseldorf.

The 22-year-old has been out of the national team since playing at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

This term, Tekpetey on loan at Düsseldorf, has been a shadow of a man who scored ten goals to help Paderborn help gain promotion to the Bundesliga in the 2018/19 season.

He managed just nine appearances.

Tekpetey agrees he must get his career up again to catch the eye of new Ghana coach CK Akonnor.

''I think the new coach is trying to scout players who are dedicated and trying to play more so I think it is a great opportunity for me to try and work hard. With my club side, I have to do what I do best to be able to earn his [CK Akonnor] call-up,'' Tekpetey told Joy Sports.

''At the end of the day, I have to work hard because he is a new coach and everything is open so everyone can get the chance to play.

''I need to improve and showcase what I have for the coach to know that I am a good player so he can call me.''
