Schalke O4 Under 23 coach, Gerald Asamoah will not take a salary for the next couple of months after donating it to help the coronavirus fight in Germany.

The retired German international mentioned that the country’s football ruling body did a lot for him so he has no qualms donating to help in the battle against the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

“This association made so much possible for me. The fight against the rapid spread of the coronavirus and its consequences required that it is time to give something back.” Asamoah told Kicker

“I hope that the current state of affairs will not continue for many weeks or even months. But of course, I have complete understanding of the necessary restrictions.”

“The situation is dramatic. Nevertheless, we can do it together.” He added.

Asamoah was the first black player to feature in the German national team and represented them at the 2002 World Cup in Japan/South Korea.
