Hellas Verona midfielder Emmanuel Agyeman-Badu has advised his fellow footballers to stay away from Sunday training games known in Ghana as 'Sunday special' in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The FIFA U-20 World Cup winner said it will not be prudent for any footballer to engage in activities that involved body contacting since it would facilitate the spread of the pandemic.

In an interview with Accra FM, he said he is now afraid to turn on his television because of how the media is reporting on the virus.

"Players must stay away from Sunday training games (also called Special Sunday) because the virus is mainly contracted through contact. I'm afraid to turn on the television because of how the virus was reported,"

"What I have seen is that Coronavirus must be taken seriously. When it all started there were theories that he could not infect a black-skinned person," he stated.

He also urged Ghanaians to stay in their houses to prevent further spread of the coronavirus.

"Now I'm sure everyone knows that he doesn't know race or color. We have to stay at home. This is the only option. Just like the president said, if you have nothing to do in the city, stay home," he added.

Ghana has now recorded 161 positive cases of the coronavirus with five deaths and 31 recoveries.
