Former Asante Kotoko and Black Stars goalkeeper, Joseph Carr has appealed to Ghanaians to honour their sporting heroes before they pass on to the next life.

Carr made this call while reacting to the demise of former teammate at Kotoko and Black Stars Opoku Afriyie’Bayie’

“Ghanaians didn’t honour him very well after he passed on. Ghanaians should honour us we the living ones very well before we die” he told Kumasi-based Ashh FM.

He, however, shared some of the memories he had of the goal scoring wizard and paid glowing tributes to him.
“I was shocked when I heard the news that my brother Opoku Afriyie has passed on"

“I started playing with him in 1972 when we went to under 20 and the senior side the Black Stars of Ghana. I can tell you my brother is the most truthful man I have worked within the national team and he is a good leader” he ended.
