Yeboah and Tiwol win Juvenile Marathon competition

Accra, September 24, GNA - Francis Yeboah and Linda Tiwol, 13-year old Junior Secondary School students emerged as the winners the male and female categories of the 19th Annual Milo Marathon competition held in Accra on Saturday, September 24.

The 18 kilometre race, which started from the Azumah Nelson Complex, Kaneshie to the finishing point at the Dansoman Keep Fit Club saw Yeboah completing his journey in an hour an a minute in the Boys Division while Tiwol clocked one-hour 59 minutes to pick the ultimate in the Girls Division.

Yeboah who hails from the Brong Ahafo Region and a second year student of Nchenchenma DC Junior Secondary School was also the fastest juvenile on the day, picking home two million cedis school bursary, two cartons of Milo, 'T' Shirts, 25 exercise books, a sports bag and a trophy as his prize for the feat.

Jeck Anyimah 12, won the second position in the Boys division with 1 hour and 28 minutes and received 1.5 million cedis as bursary, one carton of Milo, 20 exercise books and a sports bag while another Brong Ahafo based Effah Kwabena, did the race in One-hour, 30 minutes to pick home the third position.

For his prize, he was presented with One Million cedis worth of bursary, one carton of Milo, 15 exercise books and a sports bag. Tiwol, from the Upper East Region and a JSS Two pupil also took home Two-million cedis, two cartons of Milo, trainer 'T' Shirt, 25 exercise books, a sports bag and a trophy.

Winifred Adulio from the Central Region ended the race at two hours 21 minutes to place second in the Girls category. She also pocketed 1.5 million cedis bursary, one carton of Milo drink, 20 exercise books and a sports bag.

Vida Aboagye who came on the ticket of the Eastern Region placed third with a time two hours 53 minutes.

She went home with a 1.5 million cedis bursary, one carton of Milo, 15 exercise books and a sports bag.

Participants in both the male and female categories who placed between fourth and tenth positions were presented with 20 sachets of Milo, ten exercise books, bursaries of 200 thousand cedis and sports bags each while those who placed between the 11th and 20th positions received 100, 000 cedis bursary, 10 sachets of Milo and five exercise books each.

A special award went to Master Shaibu Bentum, an eight-year pupil from Mataheko, in Accra for being the youngest participant while a ten-year old girl from the Northern Region, Ramani Fatima was the youngest female participant.
