FIFA job for C. K. Gyamfi

Ghana?s celebrated soccer tactician, Charles Kumi Gyamfi, has been selected as a member of FIFA?s Technical Study Group, an international group of technical experts to analyse the ongoing U-17 World Championship in New Zealand.

C.K. Gyamfi, a CAF technical Instructor and Technical Director of the GFA, was part of the FIFA group that analysed the France ?98 World Cup and this year?s FIFA World Youth Championship (Nigeria ?99). He will be in charge of Group C, based in Christchurch, where defending champions Brazil, Australia, Mali and Germany are battling. Other members of the group include Lim Kim Chon of Malaysia, Assistant. Technical Director of the Asian Football Confederation who will be based in Auckland; Oswaldo Ramirez of Peru, member of the FIFA Technical Committee, who will be in charge of Group B in Napier, where Ghana is based; and Glenn Turner Technical Director of Soccer New Zealand, who is in charge of affairs in Dunedin. The task of the group is to do a statistical analysis of all matches, produce a technical report as well as a videotape of the tournament.

The statistics of all the 32 matches feature, for example, how (wide shots, shots in the box, penalties, by left foot, right foot, etc.), when (first, third in a half time, second or third part) and by whom (defender, midfielder, striker) the goals were scored. All these data will be compared with the previous U-17 World Championship in 1997 in Egypt. In addition to this statistical aspect, the group?s technical report has additional information on the team preparation, analysis of their playing systems and tactics, as well as training. This report, illustrated with coloured pictures, will be published by FIFA in its four official languages ? English, Spanish, French and German. The videotape to be produced is for match and training analysis.
