Premier League matches rescheduled

Accra, Aug 17, GNA - The Professional League Board (PLB) has in consultation with all stakeholders rescheduled the 21st Week Premier League matches from Sunday, August 21, to Saturday, August 20.

The decision is to demonstrate solidarity with King Faisal who are scheduled to play against ASFAR of Morocco in the Confederations Cup competition at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium, Accra on Sunday, August 21.

The PLB in a statement signed Mr Kwaku Ampim-Darko, Deputy General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) copied to the GNA Sports said that Accra Hearts of Oak would therefore play its league match against Real Sportive at the Ohene Djan Sports in Accra on Saturday to enable the ongoing renovation works at the El Wak Stadium to be completed.

Hearts were expected to relocate to the El-Wak Stadium to pave way for renovation works at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra in readiness for the hosting of the CAN 2008 competition. According to the statement, Kumasi Asante Kotoko are also to use the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi for their 22nd week home league match against Tano Bofoakwa.

This, according to the PLB, is to allow Kotoko to have ample time to put the Konongo playing field in a better shape for the rest of the Premier League matches.

The statement said all Premier League Clubs and officiating officials are therefore kindly requested to take note of the changes and prepare for their respective matches.
