Caleb Ekuban on target as Trabzonspor make light work of Çaykur Rizespor

Ghana striker Caleb Ekuban netted for Trabzonspor as they hammered Çaykur Rizespor 5-1 in the Turkish Supalig on Saturday.

Ekuban was drafted into the starting lineup following an injury to England striker Daniel Sturridge.

The Ghana international repaid the faith shown in him by coach Hüseyin Çim?ir by registering his name on the score sheet.

Croatian defender Dario Melnjak broke the deadlock for Çaykur Rizespor in the 36th minute.

But Manue da Costa drew level for Trabzonspor in the 65th minute before Ekuban gave them the lead six minutes later with a powerful finish.

Argentine international Jose Sosa made it 3-1 for the hosts from the spot in the 77th minute before Anthony Nwakaeme extended the advantage in the 86th minute.

Milan Skoda pulled a goal back for Çaykur Rizespor in the 95th minute but Badou Ndiaye sealed the big victory two minutes later.

Ekuban played the entire duration of the game for Trabzonspor.

He has made 12 appearances, contributing 2 goals and 2 assists despite his injury woes this term.
