Hearts down El-Ahly 2-1 in CAF Champions match

An 88-minute goal by "wonder boy" Ishmael Addo powered Accra Hearts of Oak to a 2-1 victory over visiting Nadi El-Ahly of Egypt in the CAF Champions League soccer match played at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The win puts Hearts on six points from three matches, three points less than group A leaders Raja Casablanca of Morocco, who beat Shooting Stars of Nigeria by a lone goal in their third match played in Lagos on Saturday. The Egyptians kicked off under the instruction of Senegalese referee Falla Ndoye and made an early incursion into Hearts penalty area but Hearts central defender Sani Wahab foiled Aly Maher?s attempt at goal. After that effort, the visitors surprisingly recoiled into their shelves, allowing the homesters to dominate the game. In the fifth minute Hearts' playmaker, Emmanuel Yartey should have put his side ahead but he failed to connect Dan Quaye's freekick.
Cheered on by the fans, Hearts pushed more men forward in search for an early goal, which never came until the 54th minute when Edmund Copson broke the deadlock. He latched onto a long volley from Yartey to deliver a left footer shot, which caught goalkeeper Essan El Hadary flat-footed for the opener. The goal was greeted with thunderous cheers from their vociferous fans.
Inspired by the goal, Hearts redoubled their efforts up-front leaving only a few men at the rear. The visitors capitalized on the poor defensive network of Hearts to pull level in the 70th minute. Substitute Sany Komsan fired an unexpected long range into the far corner of the post to beat goalkeeper James Nanor. After the goal, Hearts' technical men brought on Charles Allotey and Robert Saba for Yartey and Ben Acquah to help search for the match winner. The substitution paid off in the 88th minute as Addo hit the net from a three-man move by Allotey, Saba and Copson.
