Ashantigold Sporting Club defeated their regional rivals Asante Kotoko 4-3 on penalties in the maideen B. K. Edusei Foundation Cup at the Baba Yara Stadium today.

Attacker Amos Nkrumah scored the decisive kick as Ashgold grabbed the bragging rights against regional rivals Asante Kotoko on Sunday.

Despite Felix Annan’s heroics in saving two penalties, Salifu Mudasiru’s miss proved costly as Asante Kotoko lost in the B. K. Edusei Cup.

Ghana’s two representatives in Africa, Asante Kotoko and regional brothers Ashgold played out an entertaining draw which was decided on penalties after 90 minutes.

The two teams cancelled each other out in a game headlined by midfield enforcers Justice Blay of Kotoko and Ashgold’s James Akaminko.
