President of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), Kwabena Yeboah say he has been impressed by the skill set of midfielder Samuel Owusu during the Black Stars’ training camp in Dubia.

Kwabena Yeboah who is a well-respected journalist and broadcaster in Ghana says Owusu reminds him of the former Black Stars great Kofi Badu.

Speaking to the press after the Ghana versus Namibia friendly game played on Sunday, Kwabena Yeboah tipped the pacy winger for greatness.

“The revelation so far of this entire camping has been Samuel Owusu, the man who plays his football in Serbia. He has been a wonderful revelation and reminds so many people of Kofi Badu. He is nimble footed and he is able to split the defence and gets shots on target. He is so courageous and you may be deceived by his diminutive stature but he is absolutely quick on his feet and very difficult to catch when he is on the ball.”

The 23-year-old was among the surprise names on a provisional 29-man roster unveiled for Ghana.

This is his first ever call-up to the Black Stars, and he is said to be winning over the entire technical team.

After his maiden call-up, Owusu told Ghanasoccernet.com of his delight and ambitions ahead of the AFCON.

"It means a lot to me to be named in the squad to represent the country," Owusu told Ghanasoccernet.

"I was very happy and excited that fateful day.

"I believe in myself and I will train very hard to get my play in the final 23."

Owusu's call-up is a reward for his fine form for club side Cukaricki in the Serbian Super Liga last season.

The former Genclerbirligi winger made 32 outings - all starts - netted seven times and assisted 10 goals to help the Hill Men finish the campaign in fourth position.

Ghana have been drawn against Cameroon, Benin and Guinea-Bissau in Group F for the Africa Cup of Nations.
