Deputy coach of the Black Meteors of Ghana, Michael Osei, has started his internship program with his former club, Mainz 05.

The former Asante Kotoko coach will spend a week to refresh his technical knowledge on the modern trends of the game in the country where he spent most of his footballing career before he announced his retirement.

He left the shores of the country last two weeks and is expected to return on April 30, 2019, to continue his work with Ghana U-23 side.

Black Meteors will play Algeria in the final qualifying round of U-23 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by Egypt in November.

The Africa U-23 Cup of Nations will serve as qualifiers for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, with the top three teams set to secure tickets for the world championship.

Ghana have not qualified for the U-23 Afcon since the tournament's inception in 2011.

For the Olympic Games, the Black Meteors have been absent since a first-round berth at the 2004 gathering in Athens, Greece.
