I am ready for the Kenyan challenge - 2018 Kwahu Marathon winner

Matthew Vicuba Nantiere, winner of the 2018 Kwahu Easter Mountain Marathon (KEMM), has said that he is confident of retaining his crown, despite the intense challenge anticipated in this year’s event.

The 2019 KEMM is fixed for Saturday, April 20, from Nkawkaw to Abene.

According to Nantiere, he has observed with keen interest, the level of interest in the 2019 edition of the Kwahu Easter Mountain Marathon, following the registration of some few Kenyans to participate in the event, but he was not perturbed.

“My target is to retain the title and I am training vigorously to achieve the set target.

The 23-year-old who triumphed in the last year's marathon, has confirmed his registration in this year's marathon slated April 20, 2019.

According to Nantiere, he was not perturbed with the influx of Kenyans who are expected to compete in the 42.2 kilometer race, but anticipates a stern challenge this time around.

''For the past few months I have being training for this marathon and is a good platform to show Ghanaians my talents.

''The Kenyans are no threat to me, I have competed alongside them in various competitions and I have defeated some. So Ghanaians should expect a good show,” Vicuba said.

This year's KEMM is expected to attract at least 1000 participant across the World with a cash prize of 20, 000 Ghc at stake for winners.
