Ex-Asante Kotoko coach Michael Osei says the Porcupine Warriors have to be commended for the performances exhibited in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup despite the lack of competition in the country.

According to the former player of the club, Kotoko have been impressive and they need to be encouraged especially after their 3-1 defeat to Nkana FC on Sunday in Kitwe

“Charles Kwabla Akunnor and his players have done very well and they need to be commended because the stage they are now is difficult, Michael Osei told the media

He added that Kotoko should be commended for their efforts in the on-going competition as they have a chance of progressing out of the group

“Kotoko have done very well, it is very unfortunate in the last game they didn’t get a good result.

“They took a risk in their game against Nkana which didn’t go as planned. Some of their key players who normally make an impact in the game did not get their day, it happens in football

“The team is not playing any competitive football and they have to be commended for the performances they are showing we don’t have to discourage them. They need to be encouraged and pushed”

Asante Kotoko will host Nkana FC in Group C match day four at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday

The Porcupine Warriors must win at all cost to enhance their chances of qualifying out of the group
