Black Maidens skipper Mukarama Abdulai is delighted after clinching the top scorer at the just-ended U-17 FIFA Women's World Cup.

The Northern Ladies forward netted seven goals in four matches at the tournament held in Uruguay.

Ghana exited the competition at the quarter-final stage after losing 3-2 on penalties to Mexico.

"I am happy to win this although i would have loved to help the team win this trophy," said Mukarama

"This is a stepping stone to better things to come and i just have to build on this going forward."

Abdulai has become Ghana's all-time top scorer in FIFA U17 Women's World Cup history overtaking Jane Ayieyam's six goals scored over tournaments.

The 16-year-old has been included in a 15 nominees for the African Women's Player of the Year award.

She also Adidas collected the Bronze Ball (third best player) behind Spain's Claudia Pina and Nicole Perez of Mexico.
