League resumes on Wednesday

Accra, Nov. 1, GNA - The National Premier League will bounce back to action at all the league centres on Wednesday and Thursday after Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak completed their continental assignments over the weekend.

The resumption will see Kotoko going into action against Real Tamale United (RTU) at the Tamale Kaladan Park as the topmost attraction in Zone 'A' following the defeat suffered by Kotoko at the hands of the "Pride of the North" in the finals of the GHALCA organised knock out competition at the Accra Sports stadium.

This time around RTU would be playing at their favourite Kaladan Park and this will surely send the jitters to the fans of the Porcupine Warriors and would have much to worry about even though they have survived on some occasions at the dreaded venue.

For Kotoko whose chances in the Confederation Cup competition seemed to have trimmed down following the 2-1 loss in Nigeria last weekend, the "Oseikrom lads" are simply in no mood for another defeat, hence a cracker is anticipated.

In another thriller, King Faisal would welcome AshantiGold at the Kumasi Sports Stadium with the intention of plucking the three points at stake in order to keep their second position on the table intact whilst the miners would be seeking to improve on their third position. Brong Ahafo United after picking their first three points in the league are banking their hopes on that performance to repeat the dose against troubled Okwawu United at Sunyani, whilst Berekum Arsenals battle it out in a local derby with Tano Bofoakwa at the Berekum Park. Accra Hearts of Oak back from South Africa with smiles will be in a revenge mission as they come up against Real Sportive at the El-Wak Stadium on Thursday, November 4.

With the bitter memories of the first round in their mind which saw them losing 2-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium to the new entrants, the Phobians, having rediscovered their winning form have declared their intention to teach the newly promoted club a soccer lesson. Relegation threatened Accra Great Olympics will find it difficult to overcome resilient Power FC at the Accra Sports Stadium to improve their standings in the league.

Olympics, who are placed at the bottom of the Zone 'B' league are in a desperate need of a win to come out of the mess but whether that is possible over the electricity boys who have displayed some good showings is recent times remains unanswered till the match is played. Feyenoord Academy will also engage in a battle of their lives at the Cape Coast Stadium in their match against Sekondi Hasaacas in their bid to survive the threat of relegation.

Placed second from the bottom of the league, the "Gomoa Fetteh boys" are seeking to turn the tables in their favour to stay in the elite league.

Kpando Heart of Lions have so far proven their ability to win matches even in the enemy's territory and this is exactly what they will be out to do against Dansoman-based Liberty Professionals at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday.

With two points behind zone leaders, Accra Hearts of Oak, the "Scientific Soccer lads" will have a difficult task scaling over the Voltarians.
