Former Black Stars striker, Augustine Arhinful, has descended heavily on the past Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association for the mess in which the country’s football finds itself today.

He believes that the actions of the once powerful body ultimately led to government stepping in, to take steps in cleansing the sport of its negative tags. Some officials of the FA at the time including former FA president Kwesi Nyantekyi, were captured in the Tiger Eye documentary engaging in acts of corruption.

Mr Arhinful Speaking on Class91.3 Fm’s Sports World, hosted by Kwame Dwomoh-Agyemang said “Look, this is what I don’t understand. Don’t we have a mind of our own or what? You have been voted to be members of an Executive Committee and you want to tell me that one becomes so powerful and you can’t express your opinion until you are booted out?

“Why do we allow people like that to come in and throw dust into our eyes? Was he not part of the executives? What did he do about it? Why didn’t he come out to tell the world that he disagreed with this until now? Was he saying this when they were enjoying? I guess they saw nothing wrong with that. When I hear people like that talk, it makes me sad. They are all cowards. If you interact with him (Kwesi Nyantekyi) he comes out as a very knowledgeable person but it is clear people around him ill advised him especially when the Tiger Eye Documentary came up. Instead of advising him to step aside, they rather issued a statement to back him. It beats my mind.”

Government in consultation with CAF and FIFA are set to announce a normalisation committee to steer the affairs of Ghana Football in the coming days.
