Mounting concerns over delay in resolving football crises in Ghana

Randy Abbey expects a Normalisation Committee to be formed soon Randy Abbey expects a Normalisation Committee to be formed soon

Former Ghana Football Association spokesman Randy Abbey is worried by the delay in the coming into being of a proposed Normalization Committee for the country's sport.

The GFA is currently in the process of being "dissolved" by the Ghanaian government after an investigative documentary exposed corrupt and match-fixing activities of top officials and referees.

After Fifa and Caf jointly set up a two-man interim Liaison Team at the beginning of July for the administration of football, a Normalization Committee has been expected to promptly take over.

"I have already raised the issue of the Normalisation Committee, if indeed Fifa and the Ghanaian government are working together, then this is taking too long," Abbey said on Adom TV.

"If it is true Fifa and government agreed to form a Normalisation Committee, why is it still not formed?

"I am getting worried because the way we are delaying, Fifa could either tell the government to get the FA to work [again] or Ghana could be suspended."

It is unclear when Fifa will announce the expected Normalization Committee.

All competitive local football matches and competitions have been brought to a standstill due to the current impasse.
