Hope Performance Tennis to hold clinic and club tournament in September

The Accra Sports stadium tennis courts will come alive once again as it was in the 90s and the first decade of the 21st century. From the 5th to 8th September 2018, over a hundred of young talented future stars will be hosted to a high-performance tennis clinic and a club tournament by the Hope Performance Tennis Foundation based in the United States of America.

It has been long coming since the former Davis Cup player Enock Godi, after featuring for the Golden Racket, hinted his desire to dedicate the rest of his life to the promotion of the game and to unearth talents to feed the national team in a bid to bring back the former days of glory of Ghana Tennis.

The Hope Performance Tennis Foundation was therefore born out of that desire with the vision to help kids start tennis early and in the right way. Godi wants to discover great potentials for the nation, and help them transform themselves, their families, and the society. There is enough evidence of how tennis has impacted the lives and communities of many who have engaged the sports to the professional level.

The founder and President of the Hope Tennis Foundation is a product of ITF training centre in South Africa. From where he won a scholarship to the Mount San Jacinto College in California where he was part of the winning team of the Southern California Championship in the United States of America. Having played for the national team in the 2012 Davis Cup in Tunisia, Enock Godi, made a switch to enter professional tennis coaching to offer high performance training and skill development to rising future stars, discovering new talents, and introducing the game to virgin areas in Ghana. He is currently a certified USPTR 10U Professional, 11 and 17 professional, and works as one of the Professional coaches at the Atlanta Athletic Club as a Head Professional. He is going to lead a team of local ITF level 1 and 2 Coaches in the high-performance tennis clinic in September.

The four days event will be characterized by a high-performance tennis clinic from the 5th to 6th September 2018 for players ranging from age 8 to 16. After which, there shall be a club tournament from the 7th to the 8th of September 2018. 12 clubs in all will be participating in the club tournament for 12 and under, 14 and under, and 16 and under. The clubs selected to participate are as follows;

• Baboo Academy
• St. Francis Foundation
• Ghana Club
• Winneba Sport College

There will be an award and presentation ceremony for individual players and clubs that will distinguish themselves in both the clinic and the club tournament. It is the expectation of the organizers of the program that this shall be an annual event with the aim of spreading to other regions in Ghana in a bid to export the benefit of tennis to other regions. To give other kids the opportunity to become future tennis stars.

The maiden edition of the Hope Tennis Clinic and Performance Tournament has received the blessings of the Ghana Tennis Federation and is sponsored by the Atlanta Athletic Club Tennis Members with support from Tenolf Sports Ghana. The doors of the foundation are widely open for support in making this event a great one for our future stars.
