Chief Executive Officer of Kenpong Group of Companies, Kennedy Agyapong has paid tribute to legendary Ghanaian boxer, Azumah Nelson, describing him as a role model and patriot who used his talent to project the country and market it to the world.

Speaking at a birthday event held at the residence of former President John Rawlings, the business magnate heaped praises on Azumah and called on young boxers to emulate Azumah’s discipline and dedication.

“Azumah is a national hero and we must celebrate him for all the good works he has done for this country. He is a patriot who drew the world’s attention to Ghana with his works. I have always liked him because he is an example to everyone. His dedication and sense of discipline is unmatched and I want to urge upcoming sportsmen to learn from this legend”, he said.

The business magnate also joined the former President to sing a ‘happy birthday’ song for Azumah who turns 60 on July 19.

The celebration at the residence of President Rawlings is the first of many activities lined up to acknowledge the achievements of the boxing legend. The climax of the ‘Azumah at 60’ is a special edition of the Azumah Nelson Fight Night scheduled for July 21st at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra.

Azumah Nelson will be once again honoured by the World Boxing Council (WBC) and it is expected that the former President, Kenpong and other distinguished personalities will grace the occasion.
