Six Juvenile Tennis players win trophies at Champion Bowl Championship

Six young tennis players annexed trophies at the fourth edition of Champions Bowl Championship held at the Tennis courts of the Accra Sports Stadium and thrilling tennis fanatics with a hallmark of skill and aptitude.

The competition, organized by Zion Management Africa Limited (ZMAL), targeted children between the ages of nine (9) and sixteen (16)years in a bid to revive the sport and also select young talents to represent the nation at the Champion Bowl World Championship from October 18 to 25 in Croatia later this year.

Isaac Akuaku, Doris Adjokatse, Abubakari Yakubu-Lea, Lawrencia Menu, Michael Dosoo, and Johnson Acquah won trophies accompanied with souvenirs after beating their counterparts for not only the bragging rights.

More than One hundred young tennis drawn from Ashaiman, Tema, Haatso and other Tennis communities participated in the 3-day tourney hosted at the courts mostly occupied by the Osu community players.

Daniel Larbi gave his best but was not enough to beat the tough Isaac Akuaku from Ashaiman who mauled him 6-0 in a thrilling boys Under 12 final encounter.

Ashaiman based player Doris Adjokatse overcame the prowess of Anna Gariba to win the girls U-12 division 6-3 whilst Amos Asante lost 6-3 to Abubakari Yakubu-Lea in the boys U-14 category.

In other categories, Lawrencia Menu, Michael Dosoo and Johnson Acquah won in the girls U-14, boys U-16 and the boys U-18 respectively.

The CEO of ZMAL, Mr. David Derhnick-Coffie, in a speech, expressed his utmost gratitude to the sponsors for investing in the development of Tennis in the country, saying that, “This is exactly what we need to develop the budding talents in the sport.”

“This has been a successful competition and the future looks bright for Ghana Tennis. There are many talents in the country."

This year’s edition has corporate supports from Wilson International Brand, Special Ice mineral water Co., ETC Global Foundation, Indomie Gh Ltd., PMJ Enterprise and Golden Advocates Int. (GAI) (NHYIRAKESY WELLNESS CENTER).
